Summer 2020 Program Plan

Plan for Summer 2020 Programs
With the publishing of Little League guidelines for resuming play and the forthcoming movement of Wyoming County into the green phase, we are planning to offer limited programs later this summer if there are enough interested players and volunteers.  This describes what we will offer and some of the guidelines we will follow.   Emails are being sent to families of registered players today (June 6).

T-Ball/Coach-Pitch:  We will NOT be providing our T-Ball or Coach-Pitch programs this year.  We have concluded it will be too difficult to attempt to have those age groups adhere to the new guidelines and we do not have adequate resources to safely do that.  Those programs are cancelled for 2020.

Minor-Major Baseball and Softball:  If we have enough interested players and cleared volunteers, we will offer these programs within the Little League guidelines. We are tentatively planning to begin these programs sometime in July, with the exact start and end date still to be determined.  Those families who choose to participate will be required to sign a waiver acknowledging they understand and accept the requirements for social distancing, masks, and other procedures intended to minimize Covid risk and that you understand and accept that even with those procedures there is increased risk of Covid transmission through Little League activities.

Here are some of the requirements which will be enforced, based upon Little League guidelines for resumption of play:
- Temperature checks of players and coaches upon arrival- No interaction between families and players during the course of the practice or game.
- Players will be distanced six feet apart when not on the playing field.  To accomplish this, stands will be used as an extension of dugouts.
- Masks are to be worn by players when not on the playing field.
- All players will use individual equipment.  What they do not own we will provide as individual assignments.
- Families will not be allowed in the stands but may watch from designated areas further from the action.
- There will be no concession stand.  Players will need to bring their own refreshments.
- Dugouts will need to be wiped down by parent volunteers at the completion of games.
- Games will be less formal than normal.  There will be no uniforms as we plan to refund or credit our sponsors money, and coaches will serve as umpires from behind the mound.  The announcers booth and scoreboard will not be utilized.
 - Games will not be scheduled back to back to minimize interaction,

When we have an idea of the number of participants and volunteers, we will determine and communicate program availability to those who responded with interest.  We do not have a specific timetable yet for resumption of play.

Separately we will email all our spring registrants offering refund of any fees paid at our original spring registration.

Thank you to everybody for their support in a very challenging year.
